Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Mars Opposition

Mars in its natural color
July 26, 2018
9:30 pm - 11:00 pm
Upper Arlington Library - Lane Rd Branch

Come to the Upper Arlington Library on Lane Rd on July 26th, TONIGHT, to see Mars as the Earth is passing it by. Telescopes will be set up, rain and weather permitting, by 9:30 pm. There is an event inside the library starting at 8:30 if there are still seats left. We will also have cratering activities and water rockets to explore how physics gets us into space and makes large depressions here on the Earth.

Visible Solar System Objects include:

  • Mercury (if we are very lucky)
  • Venus
  • The Moon (Eclipse tonight BEFORE it rises in Ohio)
  • Mars
  • Jupiter
  • Saturn

Weather

Weather tonight will be questionable. Depending on the timing of the cold front pushing into Ohio it may be clear enough to see the planets. We will have to see. We will have activities and such after the event unless the weather is REALLY awful and dangerous. TBD is the best that we can do right now. Hope for clear skies!!!!
