Roof Nights

Telescope Observing Sessions

Weather permitting we hold a variety of class-related and public observing sessions from our observing deck on the roof of Smith Laboratory.

Update for 2025: The Smith Laboratory Observatory is getting an upgrade!  We have installed a new PlaneWave 20-inch telescope and are updating the mechanics of the 60-year-old dome.  We hope to be back to using the observatory for night-time observing in Fall 20205.

Night-time observing programs are limited during winter months due to safety and weather.
